AI Act Passes: Milestone Reached, Yet Climb Continues
In what appears to be a landmark decision, the European Parliament has endorsed the AI Act, heralding a new era of artificial intelligence regulation in the European Union. With an impressive tally of 523 votes in favor, juxtaposed against 46 objections and 49 abstentions, Europe is signaling its readiness to embrace the AI revolution. This pivotal moment is not merely an end but the commencement of a transformative journey aimed at securing a leadership position in the global AI landscape.
Guest Comment: Strong Regulation of AI thus promoting innovation & economic growth
Life is shifting further and further into the digital world, or rather the analog world is being complemented by the digital one. Just as the Internet changed society a few decades ago, AI will now bring about a significant change. How we face this as the European Union, the state and the individual now needs to be defined. With the proposal for a Regulation laying down harmonised rules on Artificial Intelligence (AI Act for short), the European Union is setting a first milestone around the regulation, definition and approach to artificial intelligence.
