Given that the deliberations and consultations on the proposed Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA) by the European Commission are currently in full speed - we will launch our short series "AIA Info Bits" to brief the #AI community on important aspects of the upcoming regulation today.

Together with our colleagues from KI Bundesverband e.V., Hub France IA, AI Cluster Bulgaria, ai4si (AI for Slovenia), CroAI (Croatian AI Association) and Fundacja Digital Poland, we also prepared and submitted our consolidated feedback on the proposed Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA).

AAIC Semiconductors | Applied AI Conference | June '21
On June 17th our fourth AAIC - Applied AI Conference of the year took place, this time it was all about Applied AI in the semconductor industry. The conference was co-organized by AI Austria, Advantage Austria, and Silicon Alps.

Our annual AAIC'21 conference
Our big annual event is around the cornerIt was exactly 3 years ago that we introduced AI Austria at the first edition of the AAIC - Applied AI Conference to the public. Since then not only has our non-profit grown, but the AAIC also became one of the largest AI conferences in Europe.
Kick-off Industry working group
Our Reinforcement Learning Community was set-up with the goal to form a network, promote collaboration, and push the topic of RL in Austria. True to that mission we recently held our first “RL in the industry” event featuring applied RL across industries! 💡 Matteo Lucchi and Friedemann Zimmermann from Joanneum Research discussed “Robo-gym”, their open-source toolkit for distributed deep reinforcement learning on real and simulated robots. 💡
First Meeting of the RL Community of AI Austria
The idea for an open community focused on reinforcement learning in Austria came from Catherine and Andreas last year, after realising that there were many of us working on similar topics – asking the same questions, confronted with the same problems, and looking for collaboration – but that we, for the most part, were working alone, without knowing what the others were doing.
